On a starry Friday evening, the amphitheatre of the Presidential Palace overflowed with enchanting voices and an exquisite repertoire of lyrical pieces paying tribute to the enduring legacy of the opera legend Maria Callas on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of her birth.

The magnificent charity concert was held under the auspices of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, and the First Lady, Mrs. Philippa Karsera Christodoulidis, Honorary Patron of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics. All the proceeds were donated exclusively to Telethon, a worldwide fund-raising establishment that aims to alleviate the suffering of patients and their families through continuous patient care and research programs on neurological diseases and other degenerative disorders. BDswiss was the main sponsor of the event and the President of the Republic awarded honorary plaque to Mr. Jan Eric Malkus, Founder of BDSwiss.

The two internationally acclaimed soloists, Soprano Alessandra di Giorgio and Tenor Diego Godoy accompanied by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and under the artistic direction of Maestro Günter Neuhold touched the depths of the audience’s hearts with their mesmerising performances.

Maria Callas, widely known as the “La Divina” was one of the most renowned and influential opera singers of the 20th century and her iconic voice and presence remain a point of reference for artists and opera lovers.

BDSwiss, driven by its dedication to social responsibility, was once again thrilled to contribute to such a noble cause supporting both cultural and charitable initiatives.

“The concert was not only a celebration of Callas’s extraordinary contributions to the world of opera but also a celebration of joy, giving and solidarity, allowing us to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need” said Mrs. Elena Yiangou, BDSwiss Senior Event Manager. “We are grateful to everyone who joined us on this enchanting journey.”
